Artist's Comments

Tom Bombadil and old Fatty Lumpkin.

Tom was always one of my favorite characters from the Lord of the Rings and I was always a little sad not to have seen him in the movie.

This was drawn for a LOTR contest hosted by NY Comiccon.

See this and my naked hobbit picture (that I talked off in my journal) and more over at my blog: [link]

wonderful interpretation and realisation.

There may be more to come ;) since I started re-reading the books again. I have only finished reading Fellowship so far, have yet to start the Two Towers, but I'm sure I'll be drawing a few more of my favorite scenes/characters ;)

So, I had read your journal about the LOTR contest that you won, but I must have not been really paying attention to which contest it was. So there I was at the symphony, sitting in the audience losing my mind with anticipation, and all of the sudden I see this: [link]

I kind of got really excited and turned to my friend all "ohmygosh I saw that picture! I KNOW HERRR fromtheinternet"

(As a side note, they must not put very much effort into picking the winners. You should have won first place, and I'm not just saying that to be nice - pretty much anyone with an artistic bone in their body would agree. Just because you can accurately copy a screencap/promotional photo doesn't make it a good picture.... :/)

Hahahahaha. thanks. Who knows how they picked the winners. I was actually surprised more people didn't enter the contest. There were like...21 entries. I guess not too many people were aware of it. I did just get my prize in the mail. A signed copy from Howard Shore of The Lord of the Rings Soundtrack, The Fellowship of the Ring. The whole packaging is pretty cool how it looks like a book. I bet the concert was a blast. Wish I could've gone. ah, well. what's done is done. :)

That's an awesome prize! Not sure if you've seen the other ones, but the Two Towers' "pages" are slightly more rumpled, and then Return of the King looks even more old and worn - it's really cool.

well here's to hoping they do the same thing with the two towers next year :)
