Potter!

Sun Jul 12, 2009, 10:38 AM
Harry Potter is out this week!!!!!!!! And of course, I had to draw something. Check out my blog for the illustration: [link]

So, I bought the video game for the Wii, but my fiance thinks it's ridiculous that I'm waiting to play it until I've already seen the movie. I think it's a smart thing because it won't ruin the movie for me since you follow the plot in the game. True, there can't be too many surprises especially since I already read the books. But the movies are a completely different experience and I don't want to spoil it for myself.

Oh, and, my scarf is now 22 inches long and growing :D

  • Listening to: "Horizons"- An Horse
  • Watching: All five HP movies
  • Drinking: water

I know exactly what you mean, though ;)
I'm so looking forward to seeing the movie. I read loads of good reviews! Though, obviously, the movies will never beat the books.

why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"*~

oh i beg to differ with Lizzy, I'm a guy and i would wait until after the movie to play the spoiler ridden game.
of course i probably wouldn't play it as i don't like video games. they are a Time leech that leaves you with nothing to show for it.
the illustration looks awesome by the way
do you ink first or after the watercolors?

I'm almost done with my own fan art project.
its huge and got way out of hand im glad its almost over ;)

Yeah video games can be a time leech(I really do agree with you) but then so are movies, music, art, reading, sex, meditation, napping, walks in the park, sports, um....you get the idea.

I think the key is to only invest time in the good ones and there are really only a few that come out each year. Everything in moderation is always a good idea. Can't wait for Assassin's creed 2 and Drakes Fortune 2! :)

...Gamefly is sending my copy right now.....arrg! I don't know if I can wait! ;)

ah but with music, art, reading, sex, meditation, napping, walks in the park, sports(lame), you have something to show for it afterward, A real life experience at the very least, movies only really provide this if you watch them with someone, but even then they have a set duration and so as a distraction not as bad as modern games, several of which are designed with so much content you can play for months on a daily basis and still not get it all, and that's if they aren't designed to just go on forever, like the m.m.o.r.p.g.s , yes moderation is good but i swear to you they desighn them so you will want to keep playing, and playing. wow! i just paragraphed you. sorry, you know this might have something to do with the fact that my best friend of ten years ditches me for world of warcraft on a daily basis...i saw assasins creed one(over his shoulder) looked badass.

Good point about M.M.O.R.G.S.! My old roomie used to play W.O.W. so much I wanted to punch him. I understand the comraderie but he'd let it cut into his sleep time, school time, and "real world" time. I've never played on online rpg even though my roomie would try to convince me every so often.

That being said....you actually don't have anything to show for after listening to music, reading, sex, meditation, napping, walks in the park, sports, etc....these experience are all subjective EXACTLY like video games are.

Each video game has a unique interactive experience that effects us each differently depending on the game and your maturity level. The value of story, music, and interactivity is really hard to define but most video games have ALL THREE in one place. Some are simply amazing works of art. Don't let your retarded friend get you jaded on the value of video games or maybe it's your Mom? Your friend is just retarded....like my old roommate. Moderation is the key. Too much of anything is a bad idea. Just learn to control yourself. And don't be afraid to beat your friend over the head with a frying pan. God I wish I had done that to my roomie while I had the chance! Aww....hind sight.... ;)

Thank you. I ink first and then watercolor. It's a tricky thing sometimes because the watercolors can run over the ink and affect the darkness of the line. It doesn't happen too often, but in those cases, I just go back over with a little more ink.
